Magnificent thunderstorms across the Great Karoo are characteristic of summer afternoons and December didn't disappoint! In addition to keeping dams full and rivers flowing, it's also welcome relief to the animals, the land, (and guests) at the end of a scorching day!

Heavy thunder, lightning and afternoon thundershowers continued during December concluding an exceptional 2011 in terms of rainfall with 750mm recorded from 1 January 2011 to end December 2011; one of the better rainfall years since the 1970"s. Mount Camdeboo's average rainfall over the last 4 years has been 423mm pa.
