Wildlife & Conservation

For centuries, Khoisan hunter/gatherers and settler farmers etched out a living by grazing their sheep and goats on the lands of the Greater Karoo. This activity took its toll on the land. Which is why, from the very first day that we set foot on the property, we were driven by the desire to protect, manage and rehabilitate the natural resources of the Mount Camdeboo for long term conservation and sustainable utilisation.

These include:

  • The integrated and holistic ecological management of the fauna and flora of the Reserve to ensure natural eco system functioning.
  • The restoration and management of the natural vegetation for the purpose of Karoo Veld conservation.
  • The sensitive and sustainable utilisation of natural resources as a foundation for eco tourism and wildlife conservation.
